The three-year guidance project of our Comprehensive Institute, entitled Know yourself to choose your future, while being structured organically starting from lower secondary school, has its roots as early as preschool and continues into primary school, taking the form of a continuous and progressive process of support for the personal and educational growth of every student. During the journey, students are guided in discovering their aptitudes, interests, and learning styles through self-assessment activities, authentic tasks, interdisciplinary paths, and moments of metacognitive reflection. The project serves as a strategic tool to ensure educational continuity, teaching consistency, and informed guidance.
Educational objectives:
- promote self-knowledge (interests, strengths, areas for improvement);
- foster awareness of one’s own learning style;
- reflect on the motivations for studying and on personal commitment;
- strengthen the link between the first and second cycles of education and training, to encourage an informed and thoughtful choice that enhances each student’s potential;
- promote an informed choice of high school and one’s professional future.
The project is divided into:
- transition and welcome opportunities between the various school levels to foster a gradual knowledge of the Institute’s different realities;
- training sessions and meetings with experts, presentations of the educational offerings of high schools;
- meetings with former students;
- proposal and analysis of aptitude tests, role-playing, brainstorming;
- completion of self-assessment forms on study methods;
- individual interviews with families and activities on responsible choice for eighth-grade students towards an informed and motivated decision regarding their educational and professional path. In this phase, the guidance advice is given to parents, based on a systematic observation of skills, commitment and personal inclinations, in a view to rewarding merit and respecting each individual’s aspirations.
A cross-cutting element of the entire project is the collaboration with families, considered fundamental educational partners. Information sessions, shared workshops, and discussion spaces are planned to build a solid and coherent educational alliance.
The guidance project is therefore not just a set of activities, but a structured and continuous path that integrates teaching, assessment, and educational support. In line with the ministerial vision, it aims to promote a demanding yet inclusive school, capable of supporting every student on their growth journey, favoring a smooth transition into the different school levels and an informed and responsible future choice.
