State-Recognized Primary School
In Primary School, children grow through self-awareness, recognize and develop their inclinations, experience meaningful activities in response to their curiosity and potential; they develop cognitive, emotional, affective, relational, and social dimensions. They learn to learn, in a journey rich with experiences and emotions that lasts 5 years.
In primary school, children learn to relate to others, whether peers or adults, begin to identify themselves as part of a group, which is the class, and understand that there are rules, which serve to grow in autonomy and in full awareness of themselves and the world around them.
Primary School Presentation
Take a few minutes, make yourself comfortable and come with us to discover the primary school of the Don Carlo San Martino Institute. We will introduce you to our spaces, our educational approach, our educational project!
AREA
English language learning is linked to the experiential areas of students, with the objective of developing the 4 Skills (Use of English, Listening, Speaking and Writing) through the use of different methodologies including Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and storytelling. Technology/Computer Science, Art and Image lessons are conducted in English, for a total of 8 hours dedicated to the foreign language. In the fifth year, curricular preparation for the Cambridge A1 Movers certification is provided.
AREA
We offer creative writing exercises with the objective of teaching children to work on texts and manipulate them to present their work with accuracy and clarity; within theater projects, we introduce students to physical and dramatic expression, capable of stimulating them to make their voice heard through the power of words read, written and heard. The book becomes a key tool for learning to read, write and study. The Italian curriculum is based on reading exercises, creative writing and textual analysis, with special attention to grammar and syntax, supported by interactive activities. Civic education teaches children rights, duties and responsible citizenship.
AREA
Curricular activities are designed to enable children to develop and apply mathematical thinking to solve a range of problems in everyday situations, use acquired knowledge to explain the world around them while being able to identify problems.
Within civic education, children care for and respect themselves as a prerequisite for a healthy and correct lifestyle; they respect shared rules, diversity, and are open to dialogue.
AREA
Motor skills aim to help children acquire new confidence and psycho-physical balance; we offer recreational motor activities in a dimension strongly integrated with other school subjects, so that the body and play can support the various concepts learned at school desks. Through the laboratory approach of Learning By Doing, art aims to develop skills related to visual language, through the reproduction of various types of graphic products, creatively reworking images with multiple techniques, materials and tools.
The musical experience passes through the body and voice, with greater attention to movement and rhythmic execution through the use of Orff instruments and voice education through the introduction of choral singing practice with the objective of stimulating listening, participation and group collaboration.
Educational - Formative Approach
Educational activities for primary school are designed first and foremost to accompany children along a path of growth and education, which leads them to learn and develop from both an academic and experiential point of view. The orientation activity for children begins from their entry into school: our school is committed to helping children develop a personal growth project, which allows each of them to value their aptitudes. Pathways to competence are designed for students: experiences aimed at developing knowledge through skills that translate into being. Children are guided to develop competencies through laboratory activities, disciplinary and interdisciplinary lessons to enrich their experiential and cultural heritage. Educational activities play a key role in children’s development, as they learn and grow by stimulating their personal initiative, their capacity for attention and openness.
To accommodate working parents, children can arrive at school at 7:00 AM and remain until 6:00 PM. Children can use the after-school service from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM; during these hours, an educator guides children in recreational-creative experiences.
