The Science lab is a chance to turn knowledge into experience<\/strong>: Physics and Chemistry experiments favour observation, knowledge, research and support the development of the students’ competences. Another laboratorial experience is the observation of the natural context of the school \u2013 the park.<\/p>\n

Besides this, we also propose food education labs and environmental education.<\/p>\n

Food education<\/h4>\n

Rigola proposes an analysis of one’s food habits and \u2013 through the promotion of a positive and balanced relationship with food, highlights the importance of a well-balanced diet emphasising the key tie between nutrition and health.<\/p>\n

Throughout the year we organise themed lunches allowing kids to ponder on the guidelines for a balanced diet. Awareness is therefore raised in a concrete, fun way.<\/p>\n

The canteen is the place where we promote not only a healthy food lifestyle but we also educate to socialisation and openness to the other right through the experience of new tastes and colours.<\/p>\n

Food therefore acquires a cultural and relational value as well.<\/p>\n

Environmental education<\/h4>\n

We propose several activities and experiences at school or on field in order to reinforce the stress on environment safeguard and awareness of the personal responsibility in managing nature, leading children and tweens to adopt ecologically-friendly lifestyles.<\/p>\n

Since 2015\/16 school year we have been carrying out the Institute project ‘Micoltivo’ (literally: I grow myself), handling with both food and environmental issues.<\/p>\n

What’s the idea underlying the project? To create a continuous chain from the kindergarten to the secondary school in which every child\/kid, though playing different roles according to the school \u2013 observers, cultivators, organisers and planners, will contribute to the realization, cure and maintenance of a vegetable garden, seen as a common, shared good.<\/p>\n
